Aya: “I learned how to ride a bicycle when I was about 10 years old but for some reason stopped riding.
I hadn’t picked up a bicycle for years until I was in Cape Town in May last year. As unfit as I was, the ride was exhilarating and refreshing (And yes, one never forgets how to ride a bike).
I’m not at any level of riding a Cape Argus or 94.7, but I’ll get there eventually. However, witnessing such races and any kind of social ride, there are only a select number of women who ride, and worse, almost no black women. And in asking my friends, so many of them don’t even know how to ride a bike.
So I will make it my mission this year to get more black female riders so that they can all live out their Solange wedding dreams one day, lol.”

I had a few words.
